A Note From Sarah Maria
Dear Friend,

I hope this email finds you very well. Things have been busy around here with book promotion, as you can probably imagine. I have been doing many radio interviews and having a lot of fun. I am discovering that I like to talk even more than I thought! smiley Really, though, it is a blessing to be able to share tips and techniques for helping people break free from limitation and create a life that they love. I consider it an absolute honor and am enjoying myself thoroughly. I have also been asked to do a number of online interviews for blogs. It is incredible that there are so many outlets for people to learn and grow. I am thrilled to share some of these resources with you.

Please check out my recent radio interviews on the website. Look at the recent postings under "Radio Interviews & Podcasts." I recently did an interview with a colleague and woman I simply adore, Carol Ritberger, who is a medical intuitive and has a regular radio show. There are many great interviews available. You will quickly notice what I mean when I say I really do like to talk!  smiley Please enjoy.

Sarah Maria Love Your Body Love Your LifeAlso, there are a few great new blogs I found out about when they were kind enough to interview me. One is called Abberation Nation. The other is a Body Image Blog. Take a peak and let me know what you think. Here is one that talks about Yoga and Eating Disorders.

Please mark your calendars: I am offering tele-class at no charge as a companion to the book Love Your Body, Love Your Life. Mark your calendar for December 15th at 6 pm PST, 9 pm EST. You can learn more in the "What's NEW!" section.

The holiday season is officially upon us. In the United States, Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away. The history of the holiday is that of gratitude and thanksgiving. And then throughout the Western world, we are nearing Christmas, with the tradition of gift-giving. So, it seems like the appropriate time to talk about life as a gift. This week's article might challenge some of your pre-existing beliefs and attitudes. It might challenge; it might uplift; it might inspire.
As always, I love to hear what you think. You can post any comments to my blog at BreakFreeBeauty.com/blog.

Peace, Love, Beauty,

Feature Article
Everything is a Gift

Can you look at everything as a gift? Now when I say everything, I mean everything. Because in reality, everything is a gift. Now, your mind may tell you a different story. Yet in reality, everything is a gift, no matter how pleasant or how painful. Let me explain.

The human mind is trained to think it terms of duality: good/bad, right/wrong, pleasant/painful, desirable/undesirable. What is perceived of as being pleasant, helpful, instructive, enjoyable, etc. is generally considered to be “good”. Alternatively, that which is painful, unpleasant, confusing, etc. is considered “bad”. Generally we want more of the “good” and less of the “bad”. Many people spend their entire lives chasing the pleasurable and avoiding the painful, believing that one experience is more desirable than the other. Now, I am not saying that there is anything wrong with this per se. There is no reason to pursue pain in some sort of masochistic way.

Everything is a GiftBut I will say that there is something beyond this ceaseless search for the pleasurable and shunning of the painful. There is something that lies beyond. And one way to glimpse this world, this world that is beyond your everyday perception, is by recognizing that everything in life is a gift. Everything. Good/bad, pleasurable/painful, happy/sad – it is all a gift.

Here is an actual definition of the word gift: “something bestowed or acquired without any particular effort by the recipient or without its being earned.” In reality, every single thing that happens in your life is a gift. From your arrival into this world as a newborn baby until the day your body returns to the earth, every experience you encounter is a gift.

When you look at your life in this way, you can begin to glimpse how everything you experience is moving you forward. Everything you experience is calling you home – calling you home to the reality of your true nature, the reality of your perfection, your beauty, and your grace. Life no longer seems to be such a struggle because you realize that no matter what is happening it is a gift, and gift to move you forward on this journey of life.

It is very popular in the self-help and spiritual world to talk about the importance of gratitude and appreciation to help you create what you want in life.  It is naturally easiest to feel grateful when things go our way – when we get what we want, when a dream we have been visioning manifests into the physical world. But can you cultivate gratitude when anything happens? Can you cultivate gratitude when life delivers perceived challenges, perceived setbacks? Can you cultivate gratitude when the world showers you with abundance?

Now please know, I am not saying that if you are in a painful situation you should resign yourself to remaining mired in that pain. On the contrary – when life seems to be falling apart, when you find yourself in a painful situation, it may be a wake-up call to make some important changes in your life. When you perceive that everything is a gift, you can ask yourself “what should I do with this gift that has been given to me?” If I am unhappy, lonely, or depressed, how can I use this gift to help my life move forward? How can I use this gift to help others? If you find yourself being showered with abundance, ask “how can I use this gift to help myself continue to grow and develop? How can I use this gift to help others grow and develop?”

When you realize that everything is a gift in life, it is easier to detach and live in the state of flow, the state of grace. For what makes a gift a gift is the act of giving, as well as the act of receiving. Gifts are freely given and they can be effortlessly received. When everything is a gift, there is no need to hold onto any one experience; there is no need to cling to any one gift. You can accept the gift, investigate it, admire it, cherish it, inquire into it, and when it has served its purpose you can let it go. Just as it freely came, it can freely go.

And as you let one gift go, as you let it return from whence it came, another gift will come flowing into your life with astonishing speed. This is true gratitude – to experience everyone and everything as a gift to be cherished, loved, and ultimately let go. This holiday season, ask yourself – what in your life seems like a blessing? What seems like a curse? Can you realize that both of them are gifts? Both bring their own insight; their own magic. Absolutely everything is a gift.
