A Note From Sarah Maria

Dear Friend,

I hope this email finds you wonderfully well in every way. All is well with me - getting very busy with book promotion activity! I went swimming in the ocean here in San Diego for the very first time this last weekend - it was lovely. I have heard that the water is usually only warm enough to swim in without a wet suite for the month of August, so I figured I might as well jump in. While I was swimming in the waves, I had a deeper experience of a heretofore intellectual understanding: when we realize our true nature as the totality, there is nothing to fear.

Most of the time in life, we focus on ourselves as individuals. We think our minds reveal truth, and then get disillusioned by its helter-skelter nature. We worry about ourselves as a separate body-mind organism, subject to the ravages of time. If we are separate individuals, and this is all that we are, there is, indeed, reason to fear. We can be hurt, we can stumble, we can fall, we can be threatened, we can suffer. However, and this is a big however, when we realize ourselves as the totality, all of these fears simply melt away.

In understanding our individuality versus our totality, the metaphor of the wave versus the ocean is often used. We are appearing as waves, i.e. individuals, but we are also part of the ocean. When we forget that we are part of the ocean, we grow afraid, since we are just one little wave. When we realize, however, that we are in fact the entire ocean, we discover that there is nothing to be afraid of because everything is us.

The article below was written based on this reality - please enjoy! I hope it is not too confusing, as always, please post any questions or comments to the blog - www.BreakFreeBeauty.com/blog/.

On another note, I have a favor to ask. I am orchestrating an online campaign to promote my book when it comes out. I am looking for possible partners - anyone who might be willing to email their clients, colleagues, friends, family, random strangers, mention on Facebook and Twitter etc. when the book comes out. Would you be willing to help me get the word out about the book? If so, please just hit reply to this message, let me know what you might be able to do to help promote, and I will send you any necessary information.

Thank you in advance for your help with this - hopefully it will be useful for many people in changing how they look at themselves and their bodies!

Please remember to check out the book feature this week, as well as special offers - I am speaking at a 3-Day Virtual Summit on September 10th that you might enjoy.

Hope you are having a most beautiful week,

Peace, Love, and Beauty,

Sarah Maria

Trust In That Which You Truly Are

A very popular theme in spiritual circles is this notion of "surrender" or trust. "Trust in the Universe"; "Surrender to God" - I am sure you have probably heard statements like these over the years. If you have been through trauma, if life seems to be throwing you too many curve balls, it can seem difficult, if not impossible to cultivate this trust. Fortunately, in my experience, there is no need to force trust. In fact, it is best not to force it. Many people have had their hearts broken and their lives adversely affected by someone else's choices. On the level of the individual, our doubts can help to keep us safe.

Ultimate safety, however, does come from trusting in the force of the universe, but this trust happens effortlessly and spontaneously as you come to know your true Self. Some people call it God, some describe it as pure Being that which is beyond consciousness, that presence or beingness on which perceptual reality occurs. It is the trust in this essence that is a pre-requisite, perhaps even a necessary condition, to living a life without limitation, a life of magical enchantment, wonder, and joy. It is trust in that which you truly are - trust in the limitless perfection of you and your constant becoming. This trust comes from knowing yourself, not as a separate individual, but as a speck in the totality and the totality itself, part of and all of the absolute infinity of being. This trust is not a mental concept, although it might start out as such. It is an internal knowing, based on your direct experience, that you are not what you think yourself to be, that you are beyond what you perceive with your five senses.

When you come to know this part of yourself, you will discover that you are now, have always been, and will always be eternally protected. You are always protected because the person you think yourself to be is merely one tiny part of the totality that you in fact are and always will be.

Here is a quote I came across from Oswald Chambers that offers a nice perspective on the subject. I don't personally use the word "God" often simply because, for me, it creates the idea of something outside of myself. Nor do I use the word "he" when describing this God because of childhood memories of an old man in the sky meting out rewards and punishments. I personally prefer the eastern perspective of consciousness, one of my favorite topics. But, above disclaimers aside, I love what he is saying in this quote nonetheless.

"If you are to be used by God, he will take you through a multitude of experiences that are not meant for you at all. They are meant to make you useful in his hands, to help you understand what transpires in the souls of others so that you'll never be surprised by what you come across."

-Oswald Chambers

Most interestingly, I heard this quote during an interview of a billionaire who was at one point one of the world's richest men, with his wife one of the world's richest women. They lost millions of dollars and were charged by the government for crimes they did not commit. None of it was their fault, yet they were affected all the same. He was raised in poverty, lived a life on the wrong side of the tracks, reinvented himself, made millions, and then lost millions. And through it all, he said he looked to the quote above to guide him as he traveled on his way.

Here is how I like to look at it - you are part of the pulsating rhythm of the cosmos. Everything you experience has some benefit; it will help you or someone else evolve in some way. The universe is organized for evolution, and every experience is part of this natural evolution.

You are part of the totality, and by totality, I mean everything. There is nothing that you can experience that is not you. I will save the metaphysics of this for another article, but it is all you. It is all consciousness. The environment, other people, emotions, anything and everything is part of this totality. This totality is functioning easily and effortless on its own. The force of this totality is what causes an acorn to become an oak tree; it is what causes your desires to create your life.

When you perceive the world as separate from yourself, you must defend and protect yourself. On the other hand, when you discover that there is no separation, that you are in fact the totality, there is no need to suffer. No matter what happens, there is an underlying cause. Nature always moves towards balance and harmony. In this way, let yourself be lived; let yourself be loved. Let your deeds be done through you instead of by you. Let your wounds be healed, let your heart be mended. It is from this effortless place that ultimate peace, joy, and lasting happiness is to be found.

In my experience, there is nothing more liberating than this experience of knowing yourself to be the totality. In this state of awareness, there are no problems, not because they don't exist but because they have lost their meaning. You see all things, quite simply, as part of the heart and pulse of the rhythmic universe. In this knowing, ultimate peace is eternally yours.
